There is no where to hide in the modern game.
You must work hard on this area and ensure that you provide your captain with opportunities to use you in the inner ring in the early overs or on the boundary in the middle to later phases of an innings. It is a player’s responsibility to look closely at the skills required to operate in both areas and ensure they are at very least efficient and if possible, excel in both these areas. It is also a responsibility of a player to consider specialising in a particular position, slips, gully, point are just some examples.
A quality fielder will impact on games, take a brilliant catch to remove a key batter, diving stop to create a run out opportunity, show great awareness and anticipation.
